Key-Stone research on trends in the implant-prosthetics sector with respect to digital technology reveals an ever-increasing openness to new technologies, and it is the youngest and best performing practices that are leading the innovation in the sector.
IDI Evolution, an innovative Italian company operating in the dental and implant-prosthetic technology sector, has over 1,700 dental practices using its products. According to a survey conducted by Key-stone, it is among the fastest-growing brands in the dental implant industry and the digital development of the sector.
Key-Stone is the network that supports companies and organizations in gaining a deep understanding of their target market and potential future business development. The research was conducted on a sample of over 386 respondents between July and September 2023, across Italy. The research revealed a positive trend for 2023, with nearly half of the respondents confirming a recovery in volumes in line with 2019 (pre-pandemic values). Looking ahead, 52% expect demand to increase further over a five-year horizon. Against this backdrop, firms relying on IDI are the most optimistic: 66% of IDI users, compared to 47% of the total, report a renewed stability in 2023, with a firm outlook for growth in the near future.
Digital is also gaining the trust of patients
Digital technology is advancing in the dental sector, and today it's not just practices that are requesting it to improve their performance in terms of quality and effectiveness. Indeed, 38% of those interviewed said that patients themselves are requesting to be managed, examined, and treated using digital tools. Among the most popular digital services and technologies, 3D/digital technologies are particularly prominent, cited in 72% of cases. Confirming this trend, 43% of IDI studies now state they strongly support digital support and associated solutions for implant-prosthetic treatments, considering them part of their daily medical routine. IDI Evolution is considered the most innovative Italian company in the sector by 64% of those familiar with IDI and its mission. This trend is driven by the digitally integrated approach, which has introduced several new digital tools to the dental world, such as ALFRED , which is central to clinical case management, both for the professional and for the patient, who can follow their treatment path with complete transparency, at any time.
The perception of innovation that comes from digital
IDI EVOLUTION emerges from this study as a digitally integrated , innovative , and familiar brand. These attributes demonstrate IDI's innovative approach, a company that embraces one-to-one relationships, offering a more direct connection with its practices and paying particular attention to training its professionals. Forty-five percent of practices using IDI Evolution choose it as their primary brand. The close relationship it creates with the company is one of the factors driving IDI Evolution's customer loyalty, an aspect deemed important by 49% of the customer interviewees. Added to this is the level of digital integration, which 90% of respondents considered important, according to the responses obtained by Key-Stone. Finally, a distinctive feature of IDI Evolution that emerged from the survey is its training offering for clinicians, who feel supported from their first experience with the equipment to its application to the most complex cases.
Younger studios are more likely to innovate and adopt new solutions
Taking a closer look at implantology experience, the Key-Stone survey revealed a higher percentage of performing practices in the IDI Evolution practice profiles, approximately 40%, compared to the general average of 21%. These practices perform at least 50 procedures per year, with up to twenty years of experience: these profiles are more open to innovation , with professionals on average younger. Finally, the trend found that among the practices familiar with IDI Evolution, the majority are younger and more performing practices , which generally opened for the first time after 2001, and whose professionals are under 50, or are specialized practices that perform more than 100 procedures per year.
Andrea Piantoni, Chief Innovation Officer at IDI Evolution, commented on the survey, "We are very proud of the results Key-Stone's research has brought us and of being recognized as the most innovative company in the sector. For 20 years, our mission has been to inspire and support clinicians in the digital transition the industry is undergoing. Being chosen by even the youngest practices shows us that we are going in the right direction and that we are earning the trust of our clinicians, not only for the technologies we provide, but also for the human support we provide, even for those taking their first steps in dentistry."
