The new episode, the fifteenth, of the Dentechstry podcast produced by IDI Evolution and Piano P, explores the growing role and leadership of women in the field. The episode, hosted by Irene Privitera, features Drs. Anna Giuliano, Giulia Palladino, and Chiara Miccichè , three dentists who represent the new generation of professionals in the field.
The episode focuses on how women are driving change in the dental field , bringing a more empathetic, gentle, and patient-centered approach.
The doctor Anna Giuliano , who runs her practice in Santo Stefano Belbo (Cuneo) with a nearly all-female team, emphasizes the importance of finding the right "communication key" for each patient. She describes her success as a "natural consequence" of choosing professionals with " a sensitivity and interpersonal skills that fully reflect the approach I want to offer my patients ."
Giulia Palladino , a dentist specializing in pediatric dentistry in Barletta, confirms this trend. She states that, while in the past, patients were hesitant about female dentists, today "there are specific groups of patients who prefer and prefer being treated by women." Children and phobic patients in particular seem to feel more at ease. Dr. Palladino recounts her experience with a four-year-old girl who, after seeing four male doctors without success, " came to the office asking to be treated by a female doctor ." Thanks to a " definitely kinder, more patient, and attentive approach ," the treatment was successful.
The doctor Chiara Miccichè , who works in Caltanissetta, explains how this approach extends to traditionally male-dominated fields like surgery. She recalls how, at the beginning of her career, she was considered an outsider in the world of surgery and implantology. Despite the prejudices she encountered, she demonstrated that guided surgery, " pioneering " at the time, can be " precise, safe, and respectful of tissue and patient comfort ." Many of her patients have told her they perceive " a more delicate, less invasive approach when a woman is the one operating ." This attitude has allowed her to build valuable trust with her patients, who feel more comfortable even during the most delicate procedures.
Certainly, she says, "having approached guided surgery 12 years ago has helped me a lot in this, and today the technologies support me even more." Dr. Miccichè performs her procedures with the DOUBLEGUIDE software. of IDI EVOLUTION and the design and production support of the IDI MAKERS team. Since her first experiences, Dr. Miccichè says, guided surgery combined with the technological, consultancy, and production support of IDI EVOLUTION has demonstrated its enormous potential: patients continue to be satisfied with the results and trust the dentist who has taken care of their well-being.
The episode also highlights the evolution of female leadership in the field . Dr. Giuliano defines her role as that of a leader who builds " a team that can stand on its own two feet ." For her, mutual trust within the team and with the patient is fundamental.
This trend is supported by data from the National Federation of the Orders of Physicians, Surgeons and Dentists (FNOMCeO), which show an increase in the number of women in dentistry, especially among the younger generations. In younger age groups, women are reaching parity with men or even surpassing them, marking a significant shift in a previously male-dominated field.
