MILAN – The IDI Evolution , an Italian company operating in the dental and implant-prosthetic technology sector, has decided to promote a solidarity chain for the end-of-year holidays in favor of those who cannot afford adequate dental care. A recent report by RBM Censis A 2023 study confirmed that 65% of people in Italy don't go to the dentist for financial reasons. At least 6 in 10 Italians give up on taking care of their oral hygiene and therefore their smile.
The data released. According to the data, the situation has worsened significantly since the pandemic. Families, in fact, spent 14% less in 2022 than in 2018 (pre-Covid). This is an alarming result considering that in Italy alone, 36% of children suffer from tooth decay in their primary teeth, a percentage that drops only slightly among adults (29.6%). This does not include the more than 6 million Italians affected by total or partial tooth loss.
Dental expenses. In Italy, the average annual expenditure on oral hygiene is approximately €9.5 billion, and the national health system covers only 5% of this amount. These considerations also led to the desire to IDI Evolution To make their own contribution to Italians, giving one hundred smiles this Christmas. IDI has decided to involve 100 dentists across Italy, having them each choose a clinical case, a patient to whom they can restore a smile.
The 100 Black Boxes become Red Boxes. . The selection will favor less well-off patients, and all cases will be carried out pro-bono: the professional will make his experience available, IDI Evolution will provide technological and digital support for the procedures. IDI's support will come through the free supply of 100 BlackBoxes, which will be turned red for Christmas, becoming Red Boxes. Their contents include the components needed to complete a guided surgery clinical case.
Patient selection. Andrea Piantoni, by IDI Evolution explains: "This Christmas, together with our participating customers, we will contribute all the implant-prosthetic components, digital design consultancy, and dental finishing, while the dentists will donate their services." The clinical cases will be selected by individual professionals between December 2023 and January 2024, and the corresponding Red Boxes will subsequently be produced. Given the financial impact of the professional services and the technological equipment contained in the Red Boxes, the project is estimated to have a total value of over one million euros.
